High quality residential development on Eblana avenue in Dun Laoghaire, which strives to improve its immediate urban context by offering ancillary uses on the ground floor in the form of a kiosk & cafe, along a new, pedestrian linking route through the site.

The site occupies .28 hectares and is located in a varied mixed use urban context in Dun Laoghaire. Located in the immediate proximity to the Town Hall, the scheme offers a new, more direct pedestrian link to the local Dart station.

Each residential unit is provided with spacious private terraces accessed from the primary living space of each apartment. Additionally, the residents have the benefit of a common roof garden, which is enclosed within the envelope of the building’s facade, which rises to create an ‘external room’.

The materials proposed were chosen to reflect the character and history of the waterfront port town; white render facade speaks to the original Victorian houses, ground surfaces, building bases, plinths, steps and external walling all consistent in the use of the local granite as a durable and high quality building material. Inspired by the local building tradition, the technical details of the design have been undertaken in a suite of metails- zinc, lead, copper and iron.
